Having recently started to post on the forum, and passing through the glass ceiling into 'Just Getting Started', I thought it high time to introduce myself.

I joined the world of Morgan last June, with a Zetec 1800 4/4 from Berrybrook. 'Archie' is at present unmodified, but I am beginning to itch to do something with the suspension (rock hard) and the inlet/exhaust (too slow and a bit too quiet). I am the third owner, and have had the car since June 2015. I was recently contacted out of the blue by the first owner, who kindly sent me images of the build as the car took shape and a short history (all from registering the chassis number with the Morgan Registry).

‘Archie’ came from swmbo mishearing me when I referred to it as ‘Algy’, after the Biggles books. I confess wondering what I had done when I drove it home for the first time - driving and owning a Morgan felt like no other car I had ever driven. It rained all of the 140 miles to home, and leaked of course. The first few times I took the car out felt like an out of body experience, and it took me some months to get over the 'heritage' shock.

My first real event was the Bromyard Speed Festival earlier this month. Other than this, Archie has so far been mainly used to give ‘Morgan Rides’ to patients at the local hospice (St Richard’s). This has made ownership all the better for me, and given the patients a surprising tick on the bucket list!

Wishing you a warm welcome to TM I like the "naming".

Giving others a ride is a really satisfying thing especially from a Hospice I imagine.
I take the more able bodied guys from Residential homes with an interest in older cars out when it suits them and the smile is enough, and the sharing makes it seem less self indulgent somehow.

Thanks Richard.
As you say, the giving increases the value of owning so much.
I love taking people out to share the heritage experience!

Regarding the naming of Archie, it is also an old reference to WW1 anti-aircraft fire (Biggles again) so not far removed from Algy; and I am reminded that Archie was also the ventriloquist Peter Brough's dummy - naturally, with a wooden framwork, though not sure it was ash!

I'd forgotten all about the Biggles books Glenn and Archie reference mind it's a good 50+ years ago now...

I remember the puppet too he was a bit scary as a child, he must have an ash frame surely.

Well done Glenn for using the Morgan for Community Therapeutic reasons. I would imagine it would make ownership even more satisfying.
I also remember Archie Andrews, Peter Brough,s dummy, showing my age!!

Welcome from a rather cool (at the moment) Lake Como.

You will find a few tips here and there on fixing the leaks. I am told a little neoprene works wonders hide

Our 2012 model is quite dry after I chased down and fixed the couple of points where water came in.
