Rear discs on mainstream cars don't last as long as fronts for this reason - they take much lower pressure, especially with a limiting valve in the system. So they will acquire surface rust.

As we've discussed before, they are really not necessary on a road car of reasonable (not supercar) performance and light weight.

This is the killer point for me. They aren't necessary and don't work as well as drums. Why fit them in the first place?

Simple go back to the dealer you purchased it from and tell them to sort it to your satisfaction or demand your money back.

Let them know if they waffle then you'll be reporting the issue to VOSA.

Morgan need to address this issue it is embarrassing.

I believe it's for the 'image'. I can't believe MMC don't know the facts, unless the foggy atmosphere of 'competition' is blocking the view.

Plus a huge number of ill informed 'pundits' will believe that rear discs are superior to drums.

I redesigned the handbrake cable setup for the rear disc conversion so that it worked properly when I was at Mulfab
Then the factory changed the handbrake......

If someone wants to lend me an ARP4 for a couple of days I can sort out the handbrake and then go and beat the factory into submission...

Makes a change from +4SS's failing MOT's on emissions. Another Morgan (lack of) development cock up. As long as owners continue to bury their heads in the sand accepting and excusing c**p like this, MMC will continue to dump on those who purchase underdeveloped marketing exercises.
Owners have a voice. It is time that they used it to get product improvements which are desperately needed.

Or, as a long term Morgan owner once said to me, "great car but crap company", at the time I didn't understand what he meant, sadly, I do now. I have come to the conclusion, as have others, that it is not worth waiting for the MMC to sort out a problem, but to get on and sort it out oneself. In the end, MMC will copy the resolution.

That's what the current focus groups are all about, the factory is only too keen to get direct feedback from purchasers of their products.

There will always be customers who are keen enough and rich enough to pay to be early adopters. The rest of us just wait and buy the products once the designs have stabilised.

"The pioneers get shot, and the settlers get the land"

The alternative, of keeping products in development for multiple man-years whilst all the bugs are ironed out over hundreds of thousands of miles of testing just isn't available to MMC. They'd go bankrupt years before they got anywhere near releasing a new model.

Hi Hamwich, I have yet to be convinced the "factory" want to listen to what we the customers think, they know best!!
I have had several problems with cars over the years, contacting the factory is easy, getting a response is next to impossible.
It has taken months to get them to sort out the ECU on the GDI, and I feel certain this was only done because they had so many complaints, I am surprised that some (3 wheelers) cars actually sell when you look at the faults.

At least that issue seems to be now resolved with Morgan doing an ECU calibration update on request. All due to Williams and Omex getting together to resolve the issue.

Credit where credit is due smile

My experience of the factory has been generally pretty positive but I must admit to a lot of frustration and multiple emails and phone calls before getting any response at all on a couple of small issues.
