Fully concur with the wet knees/legs from the centre gap, Ian. Found that out when I collected the car. I think some discrete silicone sealant should suffice.

Am I the only one sitting here lmao at the discussion of better sealing for the windscreen on a M3W to stay dry/drier in the rain? This is adorable!

Neat Tim, I like the bender also. On mine I cut a small piece out of the old screen and placed it in the center and sillyconed it in when I did the rest of the windshield. BTW does everyone think we still need all the screws replaced PLUS the silicone? Wouldn't the silicone really hold tight enough at least it did on the old windshields. Getting the holes marked drilled and screws back in was a bear.

Nice job on the windscreen trim! Being a do-it-yourselfer cheap sob I am considering fabricating my own windscreen similar to the Fairbourne. However, I would simply cut the old windscreen about 1" above the bonnet and screw the new plastic on, and use alloy trim strips inside and out. Would also fabricate the center brace from alloy, and some small end braces similar to what an MGA has on the windscreen. Anyone else thinking along these lines?

I think you will find a need for a seal of some sort. Rain tends to run down the screen, into the mounting and then onto your legs. It also comes in the centre where there is a gap. I was surprised at how dry you can stay in the rain with the Fairbourne screen, as long as long as you keep moving. The trim looks good.
Ditto that as discovered today on first tentative forays out in car with same screen, whilst attempting to dodge all too frequent rain showers. Not sure I'm up to Tim's excellent work though. Rainy day jobs lined up tomorrow, fitting longer fuel sender and changing circlips/adding springs to Dzus fasteners.

Have you picked yours up yet, Richard..? Yes, thanks for asking. Collected Saturday afternoon. 110 miles now on the clock including test mileage. Weather had me working through a range of garment combinations though yet to try open face helmet. Just building mental database of noises but nothing seems amiss yet  Dealer fitted Fairbourne screen, luggage rack, two eared spinners and added FOC a couple of discreet Union flag badges and a rather nice monogrammed green rug. I have added 280mm fuel sender and modified Dzus fasteners with retract springs and proper circlips. I have on order 25mm steering wheel spacer as left leg seems to want to rest on clutch pedal, and intend to invert wheel to better see tacho. Weather permitting first serious trip tomorrow from Hull to Norfolk/Suffolk, hopefully in time for local lunchtime M3WC branch meet

Well done Richard, your not a 3W virgin anymore!!!life will never be the same again.
Ref the left leg. If you can raise your knee a little and poke your toe between clutch and brake pedel. I am 5'11" with 32 inside leg. Works for me just fine.
