Thanks all for the replies, nice to know I am not the only one. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but it definitely is frustrating, ironically you need to drive them but I can't as its always broken laugh2

Its done 29k but the last 3 years its covered approx 400/500 miles a year.

This is why I like higher mileage cars. Regular use keeps everything working nicely and when things wear out due to use, they get replaced with new parts and the car just keeps going!

- cold comfort at the moment Nick, but it will be worth it when everything settles down.

Mine had sat for a while - first at BHM then with RTCC before I got it and, as others have said, they don't like not being used.

Once you have worked through the list,I'm sure you will really start to enjoy it drive

I totally agree Mike.

I guess it would depend if it was a car owned by the dealer or one on a commission sale as some owners are a bit precious about racking up even more than a few miles on their car if its on sale or return.

Nick, in my personal experience with 2 previous Morgans, that sat around it did not do them any good. The Plus 8 did about 500 miles in 2 years before I got it and as a result the front suspension and all shock absorbers were shot. I replaced it and fitted new king pin pins. All was goo after. The roadster had sat around a bit as was a dealer demonstrator, it took over 1k miles for everything to free up and some liberal greasing by me.

The recent S1 when I first drove felt quite right and little harsh, but now having driven about 800 miles it now feels great, no crashing and banging and a lovely ride. I have had a couple of minor niggles found since I purchased and Berrybrook is dealing with these as I write this. Part of why I happy to buy from a dealer.

It sounds yours unfortunately has had little use before your purchase but once sorted by RT I am sure it will be great. RT have a great reputation.

Hope this helps.

I had not been visiting for a while. Nick, I feel your pain. I bought and quickly sold my S1 because there always were "a few issues," both with the car and the Morgan specialist who looked after it. In the end, it felt like any trip in the S1 was only safe with an additional on-board mechanic, a fitting image for the brand :-)

But the car remains popular with a certain type of masochists, as this forum aptly illustrates :-)

Blimey, I must have just been so lucky with both my Aeros

I'm a fan of low mileage cars and we've covered this on another thread i'm sure but ultra low mileage cars have never caused me an issue but I guess it depends on what climate the car might have sat idle in.

MY 02 Aero had done 1600 miles when I bought it about 4 yrs ago

Only issue I've had is the MAF.

I have a 4000 mile 89 SL500. It's perfection, drives like brand new and absolutely no issues at all

I just think it's the luck of the draw and a previous owner who may just have ignored the niggles
