Absolutely, today isn't a day to get sick...although with all the Consultants on duty perhaps it is....!!

I support the Junior Doctors 100%. Hunt is aptly named, given what his name can be seen to rhyme with....

If my employer treated me as the Government is trying to treat them then I'd quit and take a case of Constructive Dismissal to an industrial tribunal.
Talking to a couple of my "Junior" Doctor friends the next step may well be mass resignation if Hunt maintains his position.

Frankly I'm appalled that the NHS Management has so mis managed what should have been reasonably simple negotiations to get to this point.

NHS Management......would that be the 'professional managers' that were brought in to 'make things better' in the NHS?

I think the NHS was better when it was run by senior medical staff, not perfect of course, but at least they had the experience to know what was what.

Seems to me the government would like to take the same approach to education.....have professional managers run the schools.

Agreed they need to delayer the bosses. More Indians fewer Chiefs.
swmbo is a nurse and is rapidly getting fed up with the suits. When they are missing staff and all they can think about is cutting her hours it shows a cost only view of management.

It's been the case for a while. When my mother was still working, she was a theatre nurse and left the NHS as the manager in charge could not even organise a basic rota and no-one knew what they were working even two days in advance.

The NHS seems to me to be a massive organisation that manages to provide an excellent service despite what its management does, not because of it.

We all know that it's a bottomless pit of money, we as a country could never afford to give it all the money it wanted as there's always more that could be done.

But the current approach seems to be about adding to the problem through more management - do we really need more administrators than there are beds?

You're in the Malvern Arms, mate. Just like a pub, (more or less) anything goes!
