The paint is starting to rub onto the bottom of the PVC sidescreens;



I realise that it's my fault for having the such a stylist combination of green and cream but... anyone got any advice on how to clean it off the PVC and also prevent it occurring again?

WD40 will take it off the PVC. I think that the problem starts at the factory when the sidescreens are mounted before the lacquer has had time to harden properly.
In addition, the sidescreens are constantly chafing against the paintwork with the accompanying noise. I tried foam rubber pads and no doubt Mr Neoprene will have found a solution using his favourite material and will be along here shortly.

Might be worth buying self adhesive baize from ebay in cream (or Stone) to lessen paint damage. As its distinctive shape you could take a tracing of the contact area.
When the paint has hardened (if it does) you can remove baize with white spirit.

What about some anti-chip film on the paintwork?

Yes paint protection film. I've done that on both mine and really it should be standard. Obviously it doesn't photograph well but when I do the next car I'll post a how to. They also benefit from protector along the bottom edge of the body tub where the doors can rub the paint away.

There was a guy advertising Volvo anti squeak tape....which I think is clear, in the back pages of Miscellany....that might work.

That's a bonnet tape substitute. (I prefer neoprene/leather). Clear film is better on the "B post".
