Although I use Vaseline on bonnet tape, I'm wondering if Vasilene is the best stuff to use anyway as it's petroleum based and in bushcraft we use vasilene on cotton wool to start a fire
What about a water based lubricant like KY jelly or could this cause corrosion ?
I'm only mentioning it on this thread as bonnet tape came up, not as a suggestion for the side screen rubbing as film is definitely the answer

Crikey Stewart, if bushcraft means carrying around tubs of Vaseline and KY jelly I'm rather glad I avoided it!

Important Press Release: The manufacturers of KY Jelly have announced that their product is now fully Year 2000 compliant. In the light of this they have now renamed it as: 'Y2KY Jelly'. Said a spokesman: "The main benefit of this revision to our product, is that you can now insert four digits into your date instead of two"

Hmmm.... Vaseline or something like that is the best way to ad Vaseline on our clothes and in the next step on our seats!

I used 3M paint protection film, bought a small sheet on Ebay for not many £s, simply cut a shape to fit the area that rubs, use a paper template first.
