Hi, does anybody know how to replace the H4 main beam bulbs in a 2010 Roadster? Is it really necessary to dismantle the head light unit or can one access the bulb from the wing? Appreciate your advise...

Hello & welcome to the Forum "231"! cheers

You´ll have to dismantle the chromed trim/ring and the lens/reflector combination too to get to the bulb.

On the other hand you could cut a BIG hole in your car´s wing from underneath, which nobody (??) here would recommend you to do somestick

It doesn´t matter how fast it becomes, but how it becomes fast. laugh2

The chrome ring is held on by a small cross head screw usually close to the 6 o'clock position, it may require a stubby screwdriver (or right angle) to get at it.

The lamp unit is removed by taking out the (I think 3) retaining screws, be careful you do not touch the lamp position adjusting screws. A piece of white masking tape can be used to mark the glass unit's position in the headlamp well to aid in reassembly.

You may find that there is a sticky rubber gasket/foam which will need to be carefully separated.

Place a towel/blanket to rest glass unit on while you pull off the rear H4 connector and replace bulb.

No re-adjusting required if you just unscrew the items & put them back the same (IF the lights were set correctly before start that is!)

I'd also suggest marking the position of the outer ring screw, before you remove it.

A really simple job even I managed it, why not fit Nightbreaker bulbs while you're at it makes a huge difference.

In many years of changing bulbs or sealed beam units I have never had them go back in without needing realigning - not difficult to do... smile
