I didn't ask this question at the recent focus group because it would have invited a PC answer.

But I wonder who buys more new Morgans. First time owners, or current owners?

I suppose with the M3W it's obvious - most I suspect would be first time Morgan owners, with a few current owners.
But following on from that I wonder how many M3W owners have gone on to buy a second M3W.

But Trads & Aeros - who knows?

MMC put a lot of effort into Geneva and publicity in general, so it seems that chasing first time Morgan buyers is seen as important. But I wonder what the figures really show.

The best advert they could have is " Morgan time to buy, no waiting " the amount of people I meet who think the waiting list is still 7-10 years is amazing and in this "want it now" society they need to be told, yes you can have it.

I'm weird, I bought all 3 of my Morgans new in between trying loads of other cars so I suppose I could be the sort of buyer
that they want, someone with more money than sense although it's all gone now but boy have I had a great time.

Had the same yesterday from a chap attending a Birthday do, he thought 6-7 years wait.

I agree - most people think we had to wait years for a new one but existing morgan owners, especially those on TM, know that it is usually only a few months.

Indeed just a few months and now quite a few dealers are offering cars "new and in stock", so if you like the spec and have the money just a few days seems likely.

Does anyone know why the lead time has reduced, has the customer demand reduced or have MMC managed to increase the build rates?

I bought a Roadster and an Aero 8 - both new (and I hadn't owned a Morgan before). It didn't take long to find out how long the waiting time was. It wasn't a consideration at all actually.

I think if someone wants to buy one then he or she will find out what the waiting time is by phoning a dealer.

The later they now build 1,300 units a year which has effectively doubled from the era when 7 years was the delivery time.

Considering they are now building 3 totally different products they have by Morgan standards kept up well for a small independent.

I don't think they sell any more trads per year than they ever did, surely it's the 3 wheeler that has given them increased numbers? I believe demand for the trad is well down. Please prove me wrong someone.
