The screw length is critical. The hinges are available from Holdens but are eye wateringly expensive. (£49.00 plus VAT for one pair..........)

Sometimes on e-bay the full perspex visors turn up for classic Mini. But the width is not right - slightly too narrow.

This company now do undrilled acrylic for a diy fix which weren't available earlier.

For Mr Bumble, I contacted the seller (not this one) and had a pair made up to the right width - still only about £35 the pair. I prefer to fit the visors semi rigid as wind deflectors. They are just too big to fold down past the mirror anyway.
I've just made up a slightly larger pair for the new car but this time I just bought a set of Mini visors, junked the perspex and had some bespoke perspex made up by an on line specialist.

Mine are M5-0.8 (Ø5mm with 0.8mm pitch)

Is there any good clip on visors you can get as I don't have fixings on my screen frame at all

I bought some clip-on visors from Allon White. I had several problems with them:
1. When I put the roof up (in heavy rain) the header rail doesn't seal around the clips and a lot of rain came in
2. Even if I removed the visors the foam in the header rail was already squashed flat and rain came in
3. Fitting and removing the visors scratched the windscreen frame and damaged the tape on the inside (it's an Allon White easy-up conversion and they reverse the screen, remove the old studs, fill the holes and cover with tape).

In the end I gave up with them and replaced the header rail foam, but to be honest I didn't find them useful very often anyway.

Maybe this would be a better question. How effective are the visors?

I have Mr Morgan ones. There best use is facing up to cut back the sun. In the down position they are difficult to see past

I wouldn't be without mine but permanently up. Still need a peaked cap and low winter sun is tricky.

I would also not be without mine, use them in the 'up' position a lot

VERY useful, mostly up for low sun, and when down its easy to see through being Perspex.. a must I'd say.

Well it looks like sun visors are a must. I have the raw materials and the wind screen has the bungs, so at least for the +8 it is a can do job. Thank You for the information.
