Hi
Two motoring books ;
Alf Francis Racing mechanic by Peter Lewis, Stirling Moss' mechanic for 10 years.
Shunt by Tom Rubython, James Hunt's story...amazing !

Two early flying books ;
Behind the cockpit door by Arthur Whitlock.
Fate is the Hunter by Ernest K Gann, The all time classic.

Have read and re read them, particularly Alf Francis and Fate is the Hunter.

Cheers
John

A couple of oldies from me:

Behind The Scenes of Motor Racing by Ken Gregory who was Stirling Moss' manager during his racing years.

Milestones in a Motoring Life by Dudley Noble. Charting his involvement with the growth of the British motoring industry including several speed/reliability trials to showcase the motor car as a reliable form of transport.

I must find the time to re-read them myself!

Need to go back and do some re-reading:

2 more favourites of mine:

- It Was Fun!: My 50 Years of High Performance - Tony Rudd (BRM and Lotus)
- Jenks: A Passion for Motor Sport - Denis Jenkinson

Plus another vote for the Alf Francis book.

I have just re-read All Arms and Elbows, by Innes Ireland, which I first read more than 40 years ago and it is just as I remembered it – honest, funny, full of interesting insights and anecdotes and scary descriptions of huge accidents; and, alas, rather craply edited. The last two chapters are a bitter tirade about how commercialized top-level motor racing has become, how the drivers no longer have any character, how they are more interested in financial rewards than sport, how useless the administrators are, etc. The book was written, or rather dictated, in 1966!
