To try to get some objective feedback on the bevel box noise please could owners fill in:
Year, mileage on current BB, noisy y/n, speed range, steel/supermax sprocket? NVH kit Y/N
It'll be interesting to see if this confirms the MMC view that the NVH kit significantly improves the Bevel Box noise.
Chris99: 2013, 1,800 miles, noisy at 60-60mph, steel sprocket, no NVH (yet)

Ok.
2014 car / 6.500 kms / Not noisy / N/A / Steel sprocket since 5.500 kms / NVH kit yes (I suppose, since it's a 2014 car).

2012 car / 22,000 miles / Not noisy / N/A / Super Max sprocket / No NVH
What gear whine I have has been cut considerably since I lessened the belt tension per Super Max's clear instructions.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

late 2013 car / 9K miles on car , 1000 miles on box number 3 / Noisy all speed ranges / steel sprocket / NVH fitted
I would liken the noise to a clapped out Land Rover being driven at speed.

May 2013 M3W on 3rd bevel box, previous ones had oil leaks. All have been similarly noisy, 4500 miles on current one, noisiest at 60-65 mph when hot, aluminium sprocket. NVH kit fitted did not make a significant difference apart from increase the road speed at which the noise was worst. Redline shockproof oil and reducing belt tension both made a small improvement.

2016 newbie! 1,700 miles. Quiet when cold ( a few miles). Whines above 45 MPH, but MUCH quieter every day. My dealer's mechanic says it's the quietest one he's heard.

2012 - 8000 miles - Original bevel box, drive belt & sprocket - she whines but then so does the car 🙄

June 2015 / 15,000 miles box replaced at 7,500 when it popped the input oil seal / second box used to whine about 55 when hot. Cured this by slightly slackening the belt and blocking off the seatbelt slot with aluminium tape - now it's silent - or at least I don't hear it anymore !! Morgan steel sprocket

2012 - 2960 miles on car( 1000 since I've had it) /not noisy at any speed / Original bevel box, drive belt & sprocket as far as I know. Only had it 3 months

July 2014 M3W, 7500 km, original BB, quiet when cold, noisy around 100km/h with medium load and also at lower speeds (from 70km/h) with little load, gets more quiet on full load, original (Alu)Sprocket, I assume NVH was standard from 2014.
