I am finding that after 4500 miles the Avons as fitted from new seem to have gone very soft on the side walls making the front end judder over bumps at low speed(very difficult phenomena to describe). The strange thing is at high speed no problem. Any suggestions. David

Very odd David, I had same on mine and did 12K on them and no problems. What is the date on them and are they CRZ5's?

Same as mine were, sounds like you've been overheating them no seriously what tyre pressures are you running and do the rears have the same issue?

Are you sure that the cause of your problem is the tyres? Front end juddering?
Have you checked the shock absorber mountings or the shock absorbers?

David, do you experience judder when manoeuvring the car? I think I know the issue, I had it on mine when I first got it. Has yours stood for a while until recently? If shockers are ok and its yes to standing then I suspect you are experiencing king pin striction at low speed and on bumps, caused by cross metal chemical corrosion whilst stood up and not used. The power steering masks the sticky steering I found, which is more evident on one without it. Mine had standard KP's and I changed to using Lucas Red n Sticky grease which stopped it and lasted much longer and is hydrophobic. I'd pump grease down the top nipple until fresh comes out the bottom, then pump the bottom one. Take the car out and Go up and down a rough section of road at a speed that will give the suspension a pounding. Then re-grease pumping all the old grease out and see if the Shudder has gone.

Thanks Adrian . Hard Chrome king pins bronze bushes molly grease I have stripped-down the suspension and opened up the bushes to be certain of no stickshun. At the start of the year when it was cold the car was perfect. thanks again for your comments. . David

Continental Contipremiumcontact 5
I fitted these to my Roadster and got much better wet grip. It stopped the car locking up and much better than the Avon. As for tyre pressure I run them at 19. The car still rocks from side to side but they really work.
