I currently have the Hexagonal knock off nuts that secure my wire wheels.

I am thinking of changing to the spinner type with 2 ears for appearance reasons.

Are the 2 eared spinners just as secure and reliable? are they any harder to secure or remove?

Yes, just as reliable and no harder (or easier!) to get on or off!!

Cheers!

The grip of the spinner on the wheel is greater if the wheel is painted or powder coated. Access to the spinner varies according to wheel offset. I changed to triple eared spinners on my 4/4 Anniversary because the earless were hard to remove from the black wires. But my Roadster with deep dish stainless wheels - no problem removing earless spinners.

probably not a lot in it in terms of ease of removal, but i prefer the hex set up simply because i can use a civilised spanner rather than that brutish whacking with mallets malarkey..

For looks, the eared spinners every time.

For looks, the antique brass hex nuts every time.

I went for hex as they are less easy to remove as "souvenirs" - mind you my car is used a lot and parked all over the place.

I changed to spinners as I couldn't get the rear hex nuts off. I left that to my friendly dealer, Krazy Horse, who told me they had a real problem getting them off.
I was always afraid of damage to the wings when using that daft little spanner whereas now, I ( well the car ) has the good looks and I can wack them on and off with a Thor hammer.

I knocked off my two front ones today (two ears) with the Thor - first time for ages, to clean the inner wheels and a regrease.

Quite easy - Think I will check them in a few days to make sure I don't become a M3W.

I changed to two-eared spinners some months ago, after struggling to remove the original hex nuts without resorting to a hair dryer!
They go on and come off easily, as Robbie says.
They also look soooo much better !

Except now I have four redundant 'Morgan' hex nuts, and I don't smoke, so no use as ash trays around the house.

Is there any other decadent use you can put them to? confused2
