For those who have had this upgrade which removes the high revs on first start have you noticed any lack of performance at the higher rev range resulting in a less spirited drive?

That's a good question! I am off to France next month in my GDI and will be having a service prior to going. There is another thread here which seems pretty inconclusive as to the value of the re-map....

So, is it worth it?

There are seven of us popping over to France next month Steamy so we will give you a wave.

I'm having mine done next week on the assumption that it won't do any harm (in theory) and the worst that can happen is that I will hopefully get a few more miles per gallon.......but this being Morgan you never know.

Stuart,
I am also going to "bite the bullet" and have this upgrade done next week. I will post my observations after a couple of good runs.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Hi Roger,

I was asked for feedback by Len & Keith at BHM as i have had the ECU flash upgrade. However, mine was needed due to high fuel consumption; which it has improved. It appears my over-enthusiastic right foot still only achieves 28mpg but it's much better than it was. I was barely scraping low twenties before.

I have not noticed any impact on the high rev performance, and that's where I tend to get my fun (as you can see from the mpg!). I have noticed that the tendency to bog down at low revs, particularly when cold, seems to have been improved.

Overall, i am happy with the ECU upgrade.

Oh thanks Steve like you I do enjoy pushing on using high revs and get between 29/33 per gallon but you don't buy a mog to save petrol! Will go ahead with it on first service in June!

Hi Folks,
I had the flash done a while ago, although not done too many miles since these are my thoughts...Still revs on start up though not as much as it did, exhaust not as sooty, more power at low revs, can be driven "enthusiastically" now without the misfire/hesitancy at approx. 3000 rpm, nice burble on overrun, can be revved on downchange without misfire now, all together it is an improvement on what it was. (still not as good as my earlier +4 duratec)
My earlier plus 4 always had a clean exhaust, returned 40+ mpg and ran perfectly.

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade in my opinion, hope this helps, Cheers, Ian

Well, I had the upgrade done today by the chaps at Oakmere. I have only done around 60 miles since and it has been a mixture of country lanes/urban/motorway.

I echo exbiker's comments really. Still got the revs spurt on start up. It might be my imagination but the car sounds deeper and throatier but what isn't my imagination is the increased responsiveness between gears one and three, however I had whinged on here before that the car was a bit lethargic in lower gears. It is still asthmatic and juddery north of 75 mph. I am due to put a few hundred miles on this weekend so if anything changes I will post.

Very pleased all in all.

Never mind, it won't be long and you will be able to get a nice set of throttle bodies, a sports exhaust, and something pushing up towards 190 hp even without a change of cams.

You will also get an ECU that can be "tuned" to the requirements of the car and its configuration.

Mind you, before anyone gets the wrong idea, that is just what I see in my teacup coffee I may be wrong.
