Hi Folks, I have been away for a while (hols not at hmp's lodgings)
Can anyone update me on the engine covers for the GDI engine.
There were a few threads on them before I left, there was the possibility of one being manufactured and another possibility of a Ford part fitting?

I'm working on it!

I've been to the factory and taken a 3D digital scan of a GDI engine bay.
I've been busy converting that into useable CAD data, and I hope to have a prototype to test fit in a couple of weeks

Anyone got a link to previous threads on this? Is this to save having to put a large towel over the engine when cleaning the bonnet?

This is a simple fix although the rubber bits aren't necessary.

someone has stolen your wipers!

Here's a link to the thread I started and my solution for a pre GDI engine. I have made a cover for the filler cap but still have to fit it.

Yes. it is to stop rainwater or water from washing entering the area around the spark plugs and creating rust problems, cheers, Ian

I'll do something like that for the short term, the GDI engine seems to run hot so I don't want to restrict the cooling vents too much, especially when travelling abroad.
Seems there is a cover in the process of being designed,

B3Mog -Well spotted but they are safely stored away. I haven't used wipers for 12 years or so.
