Glenn,
Keep the "old" hex nuts so that when you sell the car you can swap them back and save hundreds of pounds buying new ones.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Yep , trouble removing Hex and the lure of flashy two eared spinners and a big discount at Williams did it for me ! Really like spinners , what other cars have such evocative equipment , rare classics !

You can't do this with a hex version.

Excellent feature of the 007 DB5. thumbs

Mind you, they had copied it of Bodicea.....

May not still be the case but in the 60s the law was changed to require spinners with ears to be changed for the nut type. At the time I had a Spitfire with wire wheels long sold (2094KW if anyone has it) but I still have the ear nuts we removed in the loft.

I was always afraid of damage to the wings when using that daft little spanner whereas now, I ( well the car ) has the good looks and I can wack them on and off with a Thor hammer.

It took two experienced mechanics quite a while to remove my wheels today, the hex nuts had been tightened so much.

I couldn't remove mine either - I resorted to a hair dryer to warm them up to free them.
Hence the change for me to two-eared spinners, which I tighten/remove with a rubber mallet.

I was aware that they tighten themselves as you drive along, but surprised that they could be that tight.

I've only ever had them get that tight when the hub was spun. Something to check if they're a real problem getting off.
