Insurance renewal arrived and Ouch gone up by £140. Absolutely no changes from last year so it prompted me into action with the dreaded phone round for quotes. It was quickly obvious that my renewal quote was way out compared with others. I always phone the present company back and offer them the opportunity to match a quote at which point Heritage agreed it didn't look right. Half an hour later new quote £100 less with an apology from the underwriters for an error in the system.
Yea right

My renewal for the Roadster was fine, virtually the same as previous years but I've just received the insurance for my BMW R1200RS......£445 😟 two years ago my GS was £130 from the same insurer.....BMW Motorrad Insurance who I've been with for 18 years. They offered no explanation and were totally disinterested when I told them I'd got quotes from other companies starting from £98 for the same cover! I'm assuming that they want to pull out of the insurance business!

I am still with Heritage, just having signed up for my second year of 4/4 insurance.
The renewal quote I had was £234. I called Headley for a comparison, and that was £223. When I called back Heritage to quote, the final runtime quote was £219. The broker spent ages checking to make sure he had not done anything wrong (and potentially done Heritage out of £15). So £219 it is.
So, I am good (for another twelve months).

Too much smoke and mirrors for me.

I need to renew mine next month and the quote with G&W is now just shy of £400 unlimited mileage.. seems high to me so might be tempted for the phone around even though i like their service..there comes a point.

Just re insured mine staying with Headley, £260.00 just a little less than last year. I did check out G&W as a comparison and it was almost identical.

Always best to have a shop around, no such thing as loyalty savings these days.
A couple of years ago when I was with Saga, I received a renewal reminder for my XK for £440.
After muttering and grumbling I went on line and renewed and received an Email confirmation.
Six weeks later I received a letter through the post with my certificate of no claims 'as I was no longer a customer'.
I phoned to query and was told they had no record, and it was too late to renew that policy. even though I had Email proof.
Taking out a new policy he quoted me £320, because I was a new customer 'again'.

Don't know how I would have stood if I'd been pulled up or had an accident in the 6 weeks, but it taught me to look around.

Mine is due soon. Will assess when ithe reminder arrives! Currently with G&W.
I just read a short Which article re the upcoming changes in VED.
I need to go and get more detail. Some radical changes look to be coming!

Renewed my insurance for my BMW R1200 GS earlier this year for £91 fully comp and max NCB. The renewal notice was quoting £120+ but when I checked they had added the optional legal cover which I asked them to remove and which brought the premium down to £91. I used to be with BMW Motorrad but always found them to be more expensive unless you had two BMW bikes where they added the second bike at no extra cost ( even I can't ride both bikes at the same time!)
