I too like the 4/4 75th but it is over my budget. I really am limited to £30k ish. Thought i would get a 4/4 Sport and then modify it over time.

I road tested a MkIII Spitfire in 1971ish, but it was outside my budget, about £595 I recall. So I ended up with a Midget for £465 and a life of MG. A few years later I would have loved a TR6, but it was outside my budget............

Welcome. thumbs

Hi all
The spitfire was our second car - a Mk 3 1967 vintage (paid for out of a squandered inheritance, but thats another story). Dark blue, wires, overdrive and, though not much used, a hardtop. Very civilised I seem to remember after our first car, a frogeye sprite, and I loved it almost as much as our +4 bought last year.

I can recommend a 4/4 Sport! Had mine since march and just love it. The only problem has been the high final drive ratios which blunts 5th gear but its booked in for that to be changed. Gone down the sports air filter and manifold/exhaust replacement route which has made it a lot more peppy. Some don't like the lack of spare wheel but the clean rear look appeals to me and I've been well use to no spares on all my recent main cars and of course being a biker its not a problem!
Morgan do a spare kit for the Sport which fits to the luggage rack and isn't too obtrusive....I've got it but only use it if I'm going off into the wilds...for peace of mind!

The 75th Anniversary 4/4 ticks all the boxes for me although I still see it as a narrow body Plus4...historically 4/4s were the smallest engined of the bunch. The only thing that puts me off is thats its just too expensive for what it is, when you compare it to a Plus 4.

Happy searching...its all part of the fun!

Even now I still like the look of the old Triumph Spitfire. thumbs

It is good to see an active forum and lots of social events. Reminds me of the camaraderie to be found in the motorcycle world.

Mark,
ditto I had a mark III that now rusts on my brother in laws drive along with his Elan. Most of us are also old bikers. I regret selling my MG Le Mans MkIII. But the Mog brings back the grin factor!!
Enjoy it & welcome.
John

Following on from my "hello forum" post in 2011.... I am still morganless. Well I'm not one for rushing into things!

Off to visit the factory on Thursday. Really looking forward to it having poured over the pages of Making a Morgan.

Cheers

Mark, Welcome and have fun at the factory. A bit different than Most. As for car choice, having driven most of them (albeit not the all the new ones) I find my 4/4 (my first Morgan) still the best. I still have it some 35 years later.

Cheers from Florida,

Mark

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum. I too am a 4/4 owner thought it best to start with the base model and gradually improve it over time. The fun being in deciding on each improvement, getting it done and then driving the car afterwards smile and then mulling over the next one!

Hi Mark and welcome back! A shame I'm not working on Thursday, otherwise I might have taken you around and persuaded you!

Mind you there are at least two other TourGuides who lurk on here....so you might get one of them!

Enjoy the factory visit....it's a very unique place.
