Hi, Has anyone used a Bluetooth obd2 reader and their mobile phone to read codes/engine data etc.
I notice you can pick them up for approx. £5.00 on a well known internet site!

Yes but for I phone you need the wifi version

have one running on bluetooth and the Torque app.
The app is great especially if you flash the cash c. £3 for the upgrade.

Hi John, what does the upgrade give you?

The basic I think only lets you read & cancel error codes.
The upgrade gives you recording & tracking functions. Look on google play to be sure

I use a Kiwi wifi one for my IPhone and use the DashCommand app - have for the last 3 years on my Elise - Brilliant you can read and clear codes and use it as a heads up dash board when driving, which was my main use as the Elise dashboard is hard to see normally . I even designed a simple to read dash for each model of Lotus Elise/Exige but there are lteraly hundreds of pre designed dashes you can choose from if writing code is not your thing, and once you buy the app the dashboards are all free downloads. I might rewrite a simple dash for the Morgan one day as it will only need the logo, the Temp warning and the Redline parameters adjusted to be good to go.

My cheap e-bay Bluetooth OBD device (android)failed to work because my 2014 GDI Plus 4 uses a recent Ford protocol. It no doubt works on older cars. I got one from the States which does read the latest Ford OBD protocol called "OBDLink MX". That does work.

I had before the dongle a cable hand held device & that didn't work on the Roadster.

I understood at the time that Fords were often tricky to find a working reader
