A beautiful run over Dartmoor today for a belated birthday lunch at the Old Inn Widecombe it was great I had the Piggy Platter...and Heather the Soup of the day both excellent. We saw 6 newborn Dartmoor Pony foals with Mums and thousand upon thousands of Bluebells with the Foxglove about a fortnight away from blooming. This is such a special time of year here in the country with everything full of promise. Feeling very lucky to have reached pensionable age in more or less one piece. I guess I must be one of the last to retire at 65 now under the new rules. Heather has had to wait the extra 3 years being younger and female for hers to pay out. Incidentally we were able to buy her missing 10 years for £7K to entitle her to the full £151state pension - the sums are if she claims it for 3 years you are wining. That would be the last of my considerations naturally but I thought it maybe of interest to anyone else in a similar situation. Although I have 48 years payments I shall be penalised as I have 2 final salary pensions running from 50 and 58 so I shall receive £130 pretax state pension. My early retirement calculations 2 years ago ignored the State pension as I have always viewed it with scepticism/cynicism and a bonus if we got any knowing how intransigent and unreliable the government of the day can be. It'll all help keep the thirsty beasts tank full for more adventures like Red Bull Air Race, Goodwood Revival and any other shiny events that pop up on the horizon . And 38 years ago right now No1 daughter was born.

Took a friend who is recovering from cancer on a run from Purton, through Ewen and Coate, to Winston via Sapperton and then to Birdlip, but accidently joined the A417 by the Highwayman. Hit a traffic jam and the Morgan got very hot (100 deg). Came back via Bisley - what a lovely run. Will have to test electric fan.

Just got home from a few days on Exmoor. For a bank holiday Saturday, the roads were OK. A few miles on the M5 / M4 to get round Bristol and then up the Fosse.
We saw several Mogs on the Fosse Way - south of Cirencester - on their way to a Noggin? Anyone on here?
All in all a great week - walking on Exmoor is lovely and the weather has been very kind to us. Lovely roads for a Morgan too.

Lovely coastal run to Kingsbridge and return, nothing of interest on the road.
At Torcross Waitrose and Tesco doing home deliveries within 100 yards of each other, the nearest stores 40 miles away what kind of madness is this. Strange Grovers in each parking space.

Just about to set off to the Canterbury Cathedral Open Gardens, which Hopmog support in numbers every year.. Parking is in the grounds of the King's School, a great setting to show off the cars. The sun is shining - should be s good event.
