The speed drive form the gearbox is not rotating. If I push a screwdriver in and turn it, it is free, turns a few turns and then stops again. Any suggestions?
I'd like to instal a tachometer and a tripmeter too.
Cheers.

I had a 4/4 series 1 with a meadows gearbox in the '60s. My speedo drive stopped working and when I took it apart it was a 90deg crown wheel and worm drive. The crown wheel was warn hollow so that the worm did not engage. The parts where not available then and I had no way of repair. After being caught by the fuzz with no speedo I had to sell the car miles away. Today of course I could install a satnav type speedo. Presented with the problem now this is what I would do.

Cheers. Do you mean at the gearbox or speedo end? Speedo end if fine for me and works very well if I rotate the gearbox drive end by hand, at speed.

I mean the drive in the gearbox. Mine would work for a short while but then stop. No wonder when I stripped the worm and crown out, they were not meshing.

Cheers, I'll have a look and see, odd as the gearbox is rebuilt, but maybe not that bit!
