My belt deflection is 20mm in centre The belt runs true My current box, the 3rd both previous had oil seal failures, has got quieter in 4500 miles, the car has done 9800 overall. Chris if you are adding a comments column change mine to quiet then in the comments noisier after 1 hour running. I have driven 3 other three wheelers and mine is the quietest, the 2012 red factory demonstrator was by far the worst.

Quoting Rog G above "My current box, the 3rd both previous had oil seal failures, has got quieter in 4500 miles, the car has done 9800 overall. Chris if you are adding a comments column change mine to quiet then in the comments noisier after 1 hour running."
This sounds exactly like mine , on third box after two failed with oil seal leaking , and this third one gets a lot worse when warmed up. If the noise stayed as per its cool state I would be a happy man.

Although I can't measure my belt deflection right now as the car is at the dealer awaiting ECU....
Q: Has the noise got worse over time (or constant)? A: Has reduced somewhat over time. It is almost silent when the oil is cold, but noisy after a decent fast run or 30 mins of driving. (Best 'fix' is earplugs though...)
Q: What tension have you got the belt at? A: Probably 15-20mm mid-way on lower run.
Q: Is the belt alignment true (as far as you can tell)? A: Yes, absolutely. One of the the few issues I've not had.

Mine has progressively gotten quieter (2016 January car). My dealers mechanic says it's one of the quietest.
Always quiet when cold.
Belt has about 15mm deflection midway and is perfectly aligned.

Guys The information you've started to collate is great, I'm wondering if we could push it a bit further and see if we can build a better picture.
Questions i'd like to add (if possible?);
Has the noise got worse over time (or constant)? What tension have you got the belt at? Is the belt alignment true (as far as you can tell)?
As Chriss99 says noise is subjective, vehicles that leave the factory are found to be acceptable / within our parameters during road test.
Mark Evans Here's the updated report with the extra info. RogG and Nippymog - I've left your record as "Noisy" and included the comments on it being OK when cold (mine is he same). Does this point to a need for a thicker oil and/or cooling duct?

I am thinking forced cooling. My current oil is Redline Shockproof by the way , changing to Millers on next change just for the hell of it , plus Dab reccomends it !

There would appear to be quite a range of oils used in the bevel box, has anyone used more than one type? Was there any difference between them? John.

I tried Redline.
To be honest it did not make much difference.
I think the issue is heat ..too much heat!!

Gents
Give me a couple of hours i'm working on a way for us all to measure the tension in the same way so we have a true log.
Pictures to follow
