Just hoovered out the footwells and I noticed a lot of wear where my foot is rubbing the body panel as I come on and off the throttle. Makes sense as my shoes clearly have marks where the rubbing occurs. Only on 3,500 miles, anyone with greater mileage noticed the same wear? And if so any thoughts on dealing with it? A patch of Armorfend or the like perhaps. Or is it just me and the way I drive having a 34 inch inside leg.

Your thoughts as ever would be appreciated.

I have the same issue, the wear is both on the side of the footwell by the throttle and also where the heel of my left foot wears the carpet mat (the rubber insert in the mat does not extend rearwards enough).

I bought some thin rubber sheet (ebay) with fine ridges which when I get around to it I will cut patches and sew on to both the carpet and mat.

I was a little concerned that the rubber would add too much resistance to my throttle foot but with the ridges running horizontally the test I did was fine.

The mat is easy to remove but the side carpet is glued so will be more difficult. I'm not sure my wife's sewing machine will handle the carpet and rubber lamination so I suspect I will have to hand sew (perhaps also with glue)!

On the M3W ? It's the tube frame, very rough and scratchy finish. I cut a length of foam pipe insulation, fitted to the tube, done. thumbs cheers

Thanks both for your comments. Clock, funnily enough I've gone the same route with my floor by cutting up a rubber footwell mat from a local motor factor. Works well enough so give it a go. If I read you right though you are talking about the floor panels.

My specific problem, and it's my fault for not making my point clear, is where the toe side of my throttle shoe is rubbing an arc in the side panel which isn't particularly thick or strong. By extrapolation, add another 5,000 or so miles and my toe may well be poking through the side.

Back to anyone with the same issue and any ideas....

Or take to a local saddlers or shoes repairer - they have sewing it to do that job! Rimells at Shipston for you Clock!

I got some textured 1mm aluminium sheet and cut it to fit. I used rivets to fix it to the carpet, smallest that worked with washers as backing for carpet side.
Been on the car now for a few k miles and works well. The textured finish disguises scratches etc.

Right hand drive. Just back in from the garage. I've just temporarily fixed a 6 by 6 inch piece of hard leather to the side panel. If anything it allows easier modulation of the throttle as the side of my shoe now runs smoothly across it. The side panel itself is quite rough in my car and was acting like sand paper to the side of my shoe.

I'll see how it goes. Any better ideas would be well appreciated WarBird.

I'm using "glue on Velcro". Have had carpets in and out numerous times and the Velcro stands up.

My 2013 car does not have any carpet, its ribbed rubber mats with bound edges. I think carpet it not appropriate for an M3W.
The mat behind the pedals does not stay in place slipping forward over the pedal mounting. I also find my left shoe is getting rubbed by the tunnel.
