Mess? No conveyor belts, no robots, just cars being built on wooden trestles as they always have by guys who love the cars. Heaven!

Well Wait,till you have done 20,000 miles and had everthing go wrong with the old girl. Shoddy engineering and poor craftmanship abounds. I am a time served instrument craftsman and I have ony ever seen that sort of mess and working practices in cowboy outfits. Missing washers no deburred edges, glued on plates has nothing to do with traditional engineering

Hmm. Not sure I would classify the three wheeler workshop as messy. Untidy at times yes, but messy? They have tool stations attached to each persons work area, and when they work many of the tools are left on the working area, but that's about it.

I understand you're a very bitter ex-owner, and this comes across in your writing, although I'm not sure whether your postings are therapy or just anger. Likening Morgan Motor Company to a cowboy outfit isn't really going to hold much water, even amongst professional journalists.

I have no problems with bringing up poor quality, and you mention missing washers along with no deburred edges particularly. This is easily rectified by conversations with those involved, surely?

That the M3W was launched underdeveloped is a historical fact. Have they caught up in the last five years? I'd say almost yes. And they've survived all the problems without going bust, which is the main thing.

Having owned morgans for nearly 40 years I can assure you, you are wrong. The factory build quality has never been better. It's just that the quality of most other manufactured goods we buy has improved quality at a much faster rate than morgan.

I have visited the M3W buildshop many times - have lost count, but it must be way over 15 times!

I have always been impressed at how efficient the bay looks.

Well organised and clean/tidy.

As an owner of a 30 year old Morgan I can assure you that you are absolutely correct. Morgans built 30 years ago were built to a much, much lower standard than they are today, horrifically so in some aspects.

The factory today is a delight: nicely organised, clean and safe, tools and equipment to hand, a calm and methodical atmosphere, and it's blindingly obvious to anyone that the guys are taking care to do the best job they can.

Remember that the factory is trying to build cars that people can afford to buy, it's all very well expecting people to spend hours and hours fitting and installing components to the highest possible standards, but what's the point of that if it means they have to charge £60k instead of £30 for the finished product?
