My uncle passed peacefully away last night. Proud Irish American, father, police officer, Staten Islander, and stotyteller! I dedicate this to him. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/2742921/Setrights-Morgan.html

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Setright was a brilliant writer particularly about motorcycles. And a great violin player too I believe.
You mention your uncle being an Irish American so forgive me asking a question that has puzzled me. We often hear of Irish Americans, Native Americans, Africa Americans even German Americans but I have never ever heard of an English American. Yet many if not most of the founding fathers were English. Why is that? Does it go back to the war of independance and the redcoats? Or to the British American war?

I knew LJK, must have been in the 80's. I was a manager at a Honda dealership where he would bring his 4WS Prelude in for service. I remember his Russian cigarettes and his politeness, a gentleman and one of the best automotive writers of our time. My condolences Draggin.

Yes, LJKS was a brilliant writer however, I always remember an article of his writing about the Ferrari Superfast, a beautiful and rare car. His only criticism was that the engine should be replaced with an American V8. I have never forgiven him for that despite the fact that, even by that time (late 60's) he had probably forgotten more than I will ever know. Wasn't he a great champion of Bristol's?
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg
