Yes you can drain it from underneath, the drain plug is on the rear of the bevel box the filler is above that or if you are going to fill through the orange breather that is on the right hand side.
It is easier to fill from above after removing the boot liner and use a large syringe and a plastic tube, I use the orange breather to fill and can also access this from behind but I do have slim arms. This means I do not have to remove any interior trim, only the boot liner.
Careful with the syringe guys. I thought the sleeve fittings were VERY snug and I ended up blowing RedLine all over the place. My solution was to pin each sleeve fitting in the line and no problems since.
Just a quick question guys I'm soon going to replace the oil in the BB Can the oil be drained with out removing the floor pan ???
Kriss my car is mid 2013 without the NVH mount for BB. I drained & refilled from below, no need to remove any panels. Filled to plug above drain. I ran rear up a ramp & jacked front to get it level.
So its less that 200 miles since changing the oil. Alarmingly the filler plug was finger tight, so glad I checked it. Oddly I used the same method by filling to the breather hole. The panel work come out a doddle one you have done it before, it took about 20 mins, and you can have a good clean in there while its all open. I forgot to look if the prop shaft has a grease nipple?
So the oil is very mucky once again, no where near what came out first time, but still woudn't have expected that to happen to the liquid nectar that went in, I flushed it through too.
The reason I wanted to change is to see if slightly thicker oil will help soften my already weary BB. So I am now running EP85W-140 GL-5 from Comma. (British made).
Its certainly better than it was. I should try and record it somehow.
I am in the process of doing the 1,000 mile service. BB has been reasonable insofar as noise, but I am comparing with my FJ 40 Landcruiser, which really howls from the transfer case. I will employ a setup I use when servicing the brakes on my Pitts Special. Glass syringe and three-way stopcock makes for a clean approach from below, once the machine is lifted on ramps and the rear wheel is supported on a wooden block. 330cc's are easy to measure, and I think best to use the fill plug directly above the lower drain plug in the rear of the unit. Side orange plug is a vent. Piloto
I have just drained & refilled from below to the level plug just above the drain. I used a small pump oil can & used about 300 ml of Morris Lodexol. Almost no crud on the drain plug magnet. No noticeable difference in noise level.
