Steve, I'm not sure it is so easy to retrofit Devol bushes as the stub axles need to set up correctly rather than the bushes reamed to accept poor stub axles

Grease on the front discs is a big NO NO and the vital precaution to be taken when greasing the sliding pillar suspension it to keep surplus from going where its not wanted. Paper towel kitchen wipes are good for this as they can be torn into long strips and threaded between the shock and the pillar. Remote greasing points could make it all too easy to forget to remove surplus from around the lower bearing where it always exits. Remove as much as possible before greasing and then again after using the gun to re-grease. Confident the fresh grease has got right through and sufficient is in place; I find the steering SO much improved immediately afterwards that its done by me, every 5 or 6 hundred miles. The gun I use is a Wanner second hand bought off Ebay £20 or thereabouts with a flexible short hose that enables alignment with the nipple easier and blue Vinyl disposable gloves just like Eddie China uses. I find that this gun requires about 14 strokes on the topmost nipple, 3 or 4 on the lower nipple.
Agree Graham that careless and over zealous greasing using a remote kit will lead to troubles.. But I think I'll still have a quick look see underneath...and a spanner check. it's the actual greasing process that's made so much quicker and less messy as its a lot easier to position the nozzle in the correct place and so avoid all that grease exiting around the side of the nipple. It always seemed to happen when laying underneath and struggling to get to things.
Is there anywhere to stick the remote 'in' nipple just under the front somewhere, rather than in the bonnet area?
I just need a good pumping position..
Well in theory Steve you can stick it where you like! The only constraint being the length of the connecting pipe and avoiding runs where it might foul something that moves.
I have mine under the bonnet no problems but one of my pipes 'fatigue ' fractured. Twice so I've done away with it and lubricate with a long flexible grease hose on my very old antique grease gun. Standard (angled grease nipple) on top of suspension The front nearside wheel gets more vibration (pot holes /drain covers/gutter of road poor surfaces) Remote kit seemed a great idea. now I'm not so sure
I just bought an electric grease gun. That really pushed out the old grease & now it is easier to do.
The car has the plastic (Devol) bushings which Mr Morgan recommends greasing every 5k or when they squeak. I have been opting for 1k, GoMog says 3k. Am I overdoing it?
What do others with Devol bushes do?
I have Devol bushes in My '63 +4-4Str. Have had them for Years along with Hard Chrome KP's. I would suggest 5,000 miles in adequate. But I try to grease them once in the Spring and once in the late Summer. +4 is garaged for the Winter months. But when the time comes I would replace them with the Bronze Spiral bushes. I inspect the King Pins about every other year. I have turned them 180 degrees the last time I inspected them. I think the Devol's pick up and hold grit more than Bronze or Vesconite. Just My observation Mind You.

On My +4 I have an Alemite grease gun mounted next to the steering column in the cockpit. When I want to grease the King Pins I just turn the handle of the grease gun. Problem - does one stub axle get all the grease and the other gets none?
On My +8 I have zerks on top of the King Pins. Easy to get to over the top of the tires.
On My DHC there is a fitting in the engine compartment near the bulkhead with two zerks. Grease gun on clips mounted on the end of the bulkhead.
On all 3 of My Morgans I use Hard Chrome Pins. I drill a grease galley with a 3/16" long drill down the length of the KP to between the bushes and cross drill with a 1/8" drill to let the grease flow out. This drilling is a 6 pack of Beer Job. Takes a bit of time as the drill chips must be cleared about every 1/4". I use the standard bolt in the top with a hole for the grease fitting. It is BS (British Standard) so I use a BS tap to fit it.
This system involved several years of trial and error. I do not like to crawl on My belly to grease the bushes while on a "Run"!!!!
Now with Peter Mulberry's Spiral Bronze Bushes and Colin's expertise My "Labor Intensive" method is unnecessary. Go For It!
