James, my two cent, I had a P4SS and let convert her to LHD. I enjoyed her a lot but got rid of the noise level after 23K km. As you have a RHD car the noise level will be much more comfortable (but when sitting at the left like me, the TBs are much sharper to the ears).
The second reason I sold her were my worries about the first TÜV (MOT) which would have been only to pass with the "help" of "friends". Reason was, there is no OBD2 on board (which is obligatory for Euro5/German TÜV pass), and also she is much too loud (when getting measured by police) etc.
I would go for her again, if the above mentioned issues were not existing, at least in Germany. Especially since the ECU upgrade is available. This benefit I could not experience at the time. I was fine regarding the power but the smells of exhaust were too much.
One recommendation, if you want to own one of this breed. As you will absolutely love her and her performance, there is one issue which should be addressed: The rims, for two reasons. First, at least on my car they were notched at the inside to a dangerous point. Secondly, the wheels are way too heavy (including the adapter). I would buy a P4SS if I were you, but I would swap the wheels for something similar to the ARP4 wheels, made by Image-Wheels.

Thank you MR11MOG - Power to weight ratio is important to me as a buffer between my limited talent and fast laps! Are you saying the standard map is below 200?
Supercharging could be an exciting option......

Heinz, thank you for that very useful comment. My noise tolerance is pretty good as I've had a supercharger running directly behind my head in the 2 Eleven but I'm not sure I'd tolerate fumes in the cabin, is this a tuning problem?
Comment on rims also noted - I'm keen on running a separate set of rims for track and road and will have a look at image.

What I could learn here on TM is that the fumes will completely disappear after the quite new ECU upgrade.

Worth making it clear that the "official" ECU upgrade does not involve a change in the ECU but simply the installation of a new calibration.
My car has the standard Duratec engine and the Plus 4 SS exhaust was fitted from new at the factory. We had the same emissions problems with the standard ECU so the issue was very simply correct tuning for the SS exhaust which I have always suspected was changed between the prototype and production. When I fitted the throttle bodies and the Omex ECU the issue of MOT emissions and exhaust smell was resolved.
I do get a slight fuel smell until the engine reaches 70°C at which point the sonda lambda feedback loop starts to more accurately control the mixture (and the cat gets up to operating temperature) but even that could be tuned out with a little more work on the cold running part of the calibration but I could not be bothered. This observation applies to my car and may not have any relevance for the car fitted with the Mazda engine.
I have to say that if I had to change my engine I would definitely go for a VVT engine such as the Mazda fitted to the SS or, a step further, the 2.5 litre Ford with VVT.

I have driven two SS cars . Both had the ECU upgrade.
There was no fuel smell on either.
They both drove so well ...very fast ...fun to drive ..I enjoyed them both.
For me the cars were too track focused ehen I want a fast tourer.

I had no 14/60 for a few months and it was a great car. This was prior to the ECU problem being diagnosed and I don't recall any fuel smell problem.
