Roof is 'traditional', rather than 'easy up' and pvc - how do they fair for waterproofing and wind noise at motorway cruising speeds?
Whilst I'm not looking for a daily driver I expect to do quite a few miles and like to run cars through winter. How do these cars fair when left outside in wind, rain and possibly salt?
I looked very seriously at getting one last year. Very taken by the 'ethos' of the car, but the reality is that for me at least, it was a bit too hairy chested for what I wanted a Morgan for. Your own personal pleasure gauge may swing the other way to mine, so a lot of your questions you already know the answer to in your heart..!!
Modern Morgans can indeed be left outside and used in bad weather, but you must accept they will take extra cherishing to keep on top of the damage nature can cause. Water & the corrosive nature of salt can wreak havoc with even minor things such as electrical connectors unless much care is given.
To leave it like this and use it on track without much else isn't perhaps the best way, but if you're prepared to invest time & effort into looking after it I'm sure it'll be fine. Or you'll die..maybe..
For me the roof looks fabulous, real trad Morgan affair, but it's a pain to put up, take down & is infamous for gaps. This was another of my own reasons to walk away, as I really enjoy having the easyup hood on mine.
The bottom line is, you have to be very careful to not let your heart rule all the time, but if you feel all of the things you mention are insignificant on the ownership scale, then just go for it.. They are wicked cars, and I still love 'em.
