Could that be an epicyclic gear train 4 moons and 3 suns, helicopters have something similar, although possibly more reliable.

Morgan started fitting updated engines around mid 2015. From new it would include a vented timing cover. The vented covers no longer required spacers. Another mod during this period was the steel rear drive sprocket. Mapman has both mods on his vehicle produced around this time. I remember seeing his car at the factory but don't remember the exact date.

I remember seeing his car at the factory but don't remember the exact date. 2nd week in June 2015. I checked and the mods described by Grockle are correct. The Casting has been altered to alleviate the need for spacers. Upon inspection I did note that the head of the modified pulley screw was rusty. Worth applying a bit of acf 50 now and again as the vents now let some moisture in there when driving in rain.
