Just to correct you on one item. It wasn't only northerners that voted to leave, it was most of England. Perhaps fairer to say those outside the affluent south. Those who thought they'd be better of without the wealth creators bank rolling their benefits! IMHO BULL SHIIIIIIIIIT. Total claiming benefit north = 444996. Total claiming benefit South = 547098. Engage brain before opening mouth. STOP CRYING. I wonder where you're drawing the north south divide?? You can always tell a Yorkshireman…….. you can't tell them much though!!!! As a northerner, exiled in the south, I can see why most of the provinces would feel left behind and forgotten. I was in Cornwall last week, and everywhere you looked were banners to leave, every fishing boat was flying a flag. A day or so later a local MP was panicking because they were all kept afloat by EU subsidies!! It's been the ultimate protest vote…..that went wrong. I'm sure no one foresaw the political meltdown that's taking place now, but it's what we've got, so we've got to get on with it. Cant type any more my tears are getting on the key board…………..

Junker is a typical bureaucrate Well, no. Not really. He had to step down as prime minister of his own country having presided over a bugging and corruption scandal. And yet he was considered OK to be president of the commission ? As he's also an arch federalist, his appointment at a time when there was growing reticence over that aspect of the European project was like a red rag to a bull for those who wanted to see a looser Europe . Even though I am a Europhile this stuff drives me nuts. And not forgetting that as Luxembourg Minister of Finances he pimped his country out as the whore of Europe for corporations to domicile subsidiaries there and avoid tax due on their local operations including in Luxembourg's own European neighbours. Notable that European elected Heads of State have in last 48hrs been far more conciliatory towards the UK than the unaccountable bureaucrats like Juncker

I see a whole bunch of UK politicians led by Blair & Sturgeon are trying to derail the exit. I guess stopping the gravy train has got them all worried!

It was clear this was a one time event with no turning back. Not so. Here are three articles from the Lisbon Treaty: Article 505. If a State which has withdrawn from the Union asks to rejoin, its request shall be subject to the procedure referred to in Article 49. Article 49Any European State which respects the values referred to in Article 2 and is committed to promoting them may apply to become a member of the Union. Article 2The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail. It may not be desirable, it may be cumbersome and the outcome tenuous - but the process for re-newed membership exists. Well researched Steve ! I knew there would be a get out of jail free card - the Eurocrats MUST have envisaged such a situation. Now perhaps - just perhaps - Juncker & co will listen and understand that you cannot trample on all of the people all of the time? Cheers !

I knew there would be a get out of jail free card - the Eurocrats MUST have envisaged such a situation.
..except that it won't be free. If we were to re-apply, there'd be no rebate, no opt-out from Schengen, maybe even a commitment to join the Euro

By the time we extricate ourselves from this shambles, the EU then won't be the same as the EU now. The forthcoming elections and widespread EU scepticism will continue to put pressure on the system.

By the time we extricate ourselves from this shambles, the EU then won't be the same as the EU now. The forthcoming elections and widespread EU scepticism will continue to put pressure on the system. Meanwhile, the citizens of the UK will pay a heavy price in lost jobs, falling incomes, and inflation. The FTSE 250, which more accurately reflect UK industries than the 100 which reflects mainly companies that earn income overseas, is down over 7%. The dead cat bounce turned out to be just a blip.

... The dead cat bounce turned out to be just a blip. Just to clarify : a "dead cat bounce" is a slight increase after a big fall - but not much of one. If you drop a dead cat from a big height, it doesn't bounce very far** Thus the dead cat bounce was indeed NOT a blip. ** I have not actually tried this. Yet. Cheers !
