Hi can anyone help please in 2012 I had a new aluminium Radiator fitted at Aero Racing Morgan Motors Pickersleigh Road since then I have covered only a 1000 miles it was found to be leaking by Williams Morgan at a service last week I think it is totally unacceptable that Morgan will not stand by their products only a 1000 miles use it is obvious that the radiator was not fit for purpose. The fluid that is evident at the rear of the radiator just under the header tank is bright orange? anyone else had a problem with radiator.

Les,
Sorry to hear that: I fitted a Mulfab aluminium rad without any problems.

Les,
That does not sound good but it is 4 years. In the first instance I would see what Aero Racing say. Then try the radiator manufacturer.
From my experiance alloy rads do have to be carefully mounted. The hoses must not be pulling the rad on the mountings.
Cheers
John

Ditto, sorry to hear of your problems... But, have you contacted Aero Racing? Whilst it may only have a years guarantee, failure after 1000 miles implies either a fitting error, or a fault with the radiator.

Given all should still look like new, I don't foresee them disbelieving you.

I suggest you read this:
Consumer Rights Act

In other words - they may still be liable, 1000 mile life for a radiator is not reasonable.

Since the radiator was bought in 2012 The Sale of Goods Act 1979 will be applicable rather than the Consumer Rights Act.

I wasn't sure about that. But, the sale of goods act is also on Which's site and the concept of reasonable expectation of lifetime of goods is in it anyway.

But see what Aero Racing say about the issue first.

I can commiserate as I’m on my third rad in my car and its quite frustrating. A rad may look brand new from the outside and have no mounting issues but don’t rule out the electrical killers from within. For instance if you have an iron block with an aluminium rad and old coolant this can cause galvanic issues, or stray currents in the coolant system can cause electrolytic corrosion. Both can attack the core or braze/solder from within. Even parked in the garage it can be quietly rotting away. If you have a multimeter attach the negative probe to ground and dip the positive probe in your coolant. Any voltage say over 0.1 volts could be cause for concern but if you have more than 0.3 volts it can indicate a significant issue (check with engine running and not running).

Aero Racing has offered a goodwill contribution of 50% on parts and labour to replace the radiator. Unfortunately the car has not been serviced for the last four years, and obviously not covered any significant mileage during this period.
Standard parts Warranty is 12 months or 12,000 miles.
I think our offer was more than fair when you consider all the factors.

Hard to complain at that outcome, I think.

The offer was made before Les posted this morning.
