I had a 1963 Mercury Comet convertible that I ran on cross ply tires. The car had been restored from the ground up and the restorer fitted the original style tires. I don't know how they would be on an old Morgan, but one thing is for sure, they were horrible on the Comet. They screamed every time the car took a corner and plowed through, causing tremendous understeer. My friend with a 1965 Mustang tried cross plys as well and couldn't stand them for the same reason. He switched to radials and is much happier with the way the car feels. I did not bother changing mine, but sold the car instead. YMMV John
