The F-Type lost one buyer (me) with its pathetic excuse for a boot.

You can't get much better for practicality than an Aero Supersport (roof on)/Coupe.

I assume that you had the roadster and not the coupe (?).
I'm not entirely convinced that you are comparing like for like then. A roadster is a open top but the coupe has to have the roof on if you want to take advantage of any boot space. Right?

I'm not going to disagree with your comments about the lack of boot space though, Ken. It's probably one of the main issues with the roadster (considering the size of the car) but one has to adapt if one wants to own one. It's all about compromise with these niche cars.

I have a boot rack which I attach if I need to carry a bit extra. Where theres a will.... smile

Very interesting thread, it does raise a few questions on Morgans customer service for sure..I often wonder if because the owner base is older than average that MMC feel they can get away with more than a younger customer base would accept - purely conjecture but not a great business model.

Thankfully - Aero's appear to be relatively "bug" free.

You have made the right choice. If you are not happy with the car then opt out. A new car should be right.
My first Mog was a 20 yr old car and I was expecting to have "older" tech and all the quirks.
I loved the car - 4/4 with cvh efi.
It was what I expected and a superb learning intro to owning a Morgan and hands on experience at getting it right to my own expectations.
Now have a 2002 Plus8... thumbs woohoo cheers
If buying a new Morgan I would expect a well established version to be right and not need after sales corrections.
I am reluctant to go down the new car route due to so many adverse experiences with the "newer" versions. There seem to be too many problems due to lack of development and too many poor customer services negatives. The ability to spec up to my own preferences is outweighed.
M3W? ......love one but too many issues to look our for despite Morgan "improvements".
ARP4.......I would NEED a good test drive re driveability at "normal" speeds due to high revs slant on performance , after owning a Plus8 with oodles of low end torque. I don't NEED to drive at high revs.....but do expect basics like a working handbrake .
Plus4 GDI.....how can there STILL be engine running issues?
There seem to be too many basic errors in new versions suggesting a lack of care in development, come on....an iffy handbrake? Ridiculous!
A well sorted by owner second hand car is a good way to go.

No problems with my +4 GDi so far. What can I expect to happen?

Not all seem to be having ecu issues. Mines been ok, bit sooty but the last flash fixed it so that's worth doing. No other issues in a years use and I'm not anticipating any.

The only thing I'd budget for is an ally radiator in a couple of years.

Just keep driving it, mine gets better and better!

Owning a Morgan for me isn't an obsession. Of course I love it, but I have equally loved other cars I have owned and have been just as enthusiastic about them as I am about my +4. Every now and then am tempted by one on my 'wants list' though.

I also wouldn't assume that even mainstream marques are free from problems , both technically and in terms of the customer care provided. They all have issues to a greater or lesser degree and it doesn't seem related to the price you might pay either.

In the end we have individual choice about what we drive and I wouldn't 'knock' anyone for that choice, one mans dream is anothers nightmare!

You're right about other marques. I used to frequent a 911 forum (when I had the 911) and there's plenty of disgruntlement on there about rather expensive engine and other problems in some of the different models, including brand new ones.

I never had any 'major' problems over the years, except a rad……. but lots of niggles.
Normal for morgan? probably. Frustrating? Yes. Enough to stop me from keeping buying the damn things? No.

I'd hope the factory are aware of the 'normal for Morgan', and, 'they all do that', cop outs, and are focusing their attention on reliability and build quality, as they ought to be rather than the seemingly endless production of 'special editions'.

Get the basics right, then do the other stuff.

I just bought a very low milage 2013 Duratec rather than a new Gdi. I didn't want to take the gamble, hoping that tried and tested will serve me well.
But who knows………..
