Do you know if guenuine king pin diameter is 25mm (metric) or imperial 1 inch ?
How does Morgan deal with the king pin adjustment :
. the reaming is subcontracted and machined or . Morgan « hand » reams in its workshop adjusting each king pin assembly ?
During my visit at Malvern in october 2011 I saw only integrated front suspension.

The kingpin is 1" imperial.
It is reamed with an adjustable reamer. Do not attempt to ream with a fixed 1" reamer because the tubes that carry the bushes are welded to the subaxle forging and will always be slightly out of allignment. The bushes are supplied slightly undersize so that the adjustable reamer can accommodate the mis-alignment without having to go over-size.
Hope that this helps.

From memory the pins are now sorted in the machine shop behind M3w assembly. It's not included in tours.Jays will confirm.

Thank you all for these informations.
It will be better to ream the tubes just after welding and before inserting the bushes. Standard bushes could be used and replaced without needing an additional reaming.

This method is used by a Canadian Morgan Owner. A machine shop hones/reams the stub axle for a loose fit. Loctite Bushing Retainer is used to hold the bushing. No reaming/honing of the bush. Heat is used to release the bushing when they are to be replaced. Not sure of the details of this. Button Seattle

Heat is used to release the bushing when they are to be replaced. Not sure of the details of this. That makes a lot of sense to me. With the conventional approach if there is any distortion along the tube axis the reamer may just follow the axial distortion resulting in having to over ream to achieve the correct sliding fit. This would result in a reduced life. With the Loctite method the bush/pin fit can be pre machined and the bushes allowed to float slightly on assembly (using the pins to align the bushes as the Loctite cures).

That's exactly right. The bushes fit the pins before pressing into the stubs. Once pressed in the bushes are distorted. It would make much more sense to ream the stubs before fitting the bushes.
