My front right indicator was not working and I found the wire had pulled through the fibre washer on the indicator unit. Common fault. Put it back together and now all the right indicators are not working! The right flasher on the dash is flashing madly. The fuse is okay. The left indicators are working fine. Nothing other than the front indicator unit has been disturbed. The wire at the front indicator unit could have shorted out but the fuse has not blown. Any ideas?

Have you tried changing the bulb?

When you say the fuse is OK are you checking under the dash? Are you aware that there is a line feed for the under dash fuse box on the under bonnet bulkhead? It's the one wth a clear cover and about 5 fuses in it.......took me a while to find that when mine went down with an identical issue. By the way I made my own replacements for the rubbish fibre discs that seem too be made or cardboard these days with some sheet black plastic, 50p for enough to make a cars worth!
Whoops, should have said drivers side in the UK on the near vertical face up above your knees region.

Thanks for the reply Colin. Yes the under dash fuse is okay and all the bulkhead fuses are okay. Are the flasher units on the printed circuit and seperate left and right? Can they be replaced? There was a slight burnt plastic smell coming from the dash area which I put down to the flasher working overtime. Maybe the output circuit is blown?

Oh dear that sounds bad, must say I have never looked for a flasher unit on my car (08 +4 so very similar to yours) normally they are not handed, have you tried the hazards to see if the wiring is sound? In theory the fuse should go way before any wiring but you know Mogans for quirks? Sorry mate I am guessing beyond this?

Have you tried changing the bulb? Yes, checked bulb that is okay. It has gone from front indicator to repeater and rear which suggests something between flasher and lights.

The right indicator arm is working as the light on the dash comes on slow first flash then very fast.

The fast flash is an indication of insufficient load - i.e. the flasher thinks a bulb has blown. Of course that could be due to no connection to a bulb. If you have a test meter, check for volts at the bulb socket - I'll bet there aren't any. But, also check the earth lines while you have the cover off... Good luck.

Your right Graham nothing at any of the right hand flasher units. I have traced the wires back through connectors all of which have no current to the switch/warning light panel on the dash. There appears to be two flasher units for each side where the indicator alarm and light emanates. Not sure if it is a plug in or the need for a new panel. Ring Perranwell tomorrow. Oh for my old 4/4 with a simple plug in flasher unit!

I had a rear indicator fail yesterday and got the fast flash. Turned out to be a bad earth to the metal backplate, might be worth testing the earth with a fly lead. Strangely i could interrupt the earth by screwing to plastic lens up tightly. Front Sidelight failed at same time, cured by tightening fixing bolt, so bad earth again. Both issues unrelated, but i put it down to heatwave… or black magic.
