I spoke with Earl from UltraCool (831) 630-1322 to get the latest information on their oil cooler package.

Earl has sold a few units to M3W owners but has not got any feedback. They will not be making a kit for the M3W since he cant get his hands on a unit. The oil adapter will work will the X-Wedge motor and the current oil lines could work with a front mounted unit. If your mounting the unit under the bonnet you will have to design your own oil lines. I think being in South Florida (Hot) I would mount it up front to the license plate area.

Current units are in stock priced at $399.00 but there will be a price increase at the end of the month to something like $450.00

Earl said he does have a updated unit that will be ready in October that has an updated wiring harness along with a little higher fan speed. (200 vs. 220 CFM)

Group purchase of 10 units or more would receive a $50 price reduction if shipped to one address.

I'm thinking about ordering one unit this week.

Earl did say he sold a unit to Adrian Bowden so we may have an owners point of view soon!

Attended a British Car Show in Pa, and this gentleman makes kits for oil coolers with all the custom hardware in it. Here's his website: Morgan Custom Accessories

I was worried about my oil temperature after fitting a Stage 1.5 Garage 56 tuning kit, which has encouraged me to use the full performance envelope of the M3W, now it has stopped pinking, plus I have about 20%+ more power and torque. I measured the oil temperature after a long run by putting a thermometer into the dry sump tank. It was reading just over 110º C, which I felt was a little too warm. I use Motul 20W-60 Le Mans 300V full synthetic competition oil. I contacted Motul to enquire about the working range of this oil. They came back to me and said the oil was perfectly happy up to 160ºC, so I have binned the idea of an oil cooler, as being an expensive and unnecessary complication.

No doubt the engine gets quite hot, but it's location square on to an uninhibited breeze must count for a lot.

Compare ths with transverse location in a motorcycle frame. Guess the engine has an easier time, but imagine the rear cylinder and timing cover receive less direct cooling air. Do bike installations rely on oil coolers I wonder.

Very much so. Many V-twins have them as stock. Many without are adding them. Being stuck in traffic is hard on an air cooled engine.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
