Owners handbook says 18 psi front and rear - I have now 165/80 r15 87t - does that psi sound correct?
when all is said and done - there is more said than done .

I run mine at 22 lbs front and rear. They are low pressured and have a lot of people telling my I have flat tyres .

24-26psi seems to be right for me. I tried higher pressure and the driving became worse. No better street holding but very bumpy drive. 18psi is too low for my driving style. I had both the 165/80 and 185/70 on my 4/4 and prefer the wider version. Vredestein much better than the Continentals. (just my personal opinion based on own experience)

I run on 24psi which seems best for mine. Interesting in what you say about using the 185's - do you get better grip?

I find 22 psi a bit on the squidgy side, but then I'm pretty heavy, so 23 front 24 rear on the road, raising the rears to 25/26 if laden with luggage...

Ditto all the above, 22psi all round for general driving with an increase to 26 when fully laden for touring. I have been stopped at junctions with people telling me I may have a puncture, the tyres do look a bit "flabby" at 22psi, a bit like me. 
Here for a good time not a long time!!

As you'll see, consistent advice saying the handbook figures are wrong. They are! I've no idea why Morgan ever said so low a figure but most people have tried them, given up in disgust and experimented around and found their own figures which as you see, are remarkably similar.
18 psi is even lower than was recommended for later two and three speeders of the 30s. (19 front, 25 rear if you're interested).
