From next year your can't repair / refill R22 units, meaning new compressors & controls for affected units.

Any update on this? Was thinking of doing the same to my dads 2007 roadster. Anyone know how to re-gas the system as its not working that efficiently..

A fellow TMer has a Roadster with air con that never worked very well, he spent 2 days insulating the pipes, and modded the foam on the heater intake box to stop hot air coming in from the engine, result was cold air in the footwells. Warning it involves scrapped knuckles and lots of cursing to insulate the pipes. I did the same on my Aero and it made a big difference. I also cover the insulating foam with heat reflective tape, a tricky and time consumming job.

I would take the car to an air con man to get regased, the process does a vacuum test to check for leaks and then it will refill the unit, replacing the old gas.

I blocked the gap on the heater front where the bonnet hinges by layers of draft excluding foam. That really made a difference to keep the air coming in cool even last week in the UK.

The Morgan system on the Plus 4 is very badly designed with the cold tube from the aircon compressor running behind the radiator and in the hot air flow. Also hot air from the engine bay is free to enter the air intake.

Last week in Sicily my mods worked very well smile

I insulated the tubes with split Cool Tube from https://www.agriemach.com/c81-cool-tube

The air intake was modified with closed cell foam. I actually purchased new foam from Morgan at vast expense.

Thanks for the posts, will try the foam on the header unit first.. It looks the easiest option and then a re-gas and check

You have a roof????

Believe me when the temperature gets up to over 35°C in the shade, the sun is threatening to turn your brains into noodle soup, your perspiration starts to puddle around your groin, and you have 400km to drive to your next overnight stop, you can tell swmbo that you are having fun and risk a very unpleasant day or you can do the sensible thing.

The sensible thing being to stop under a tree and put the sidescreens on and the hood up, wriggle back into the car, and turn the aircon on.

Nobody ever said that you had to be a masochist to own a Morgan.
Though, on reflection, it probably helps joy cuckoo roses viking stars
