With two people on board and going over large road undulations at speed my 2007 +4 suspension bottoms out.

What suggestions can you offer to easily fix it?

My thoughts were;

1. Multi-link rear suspension (too expensive)
2. Just replace rear leaf springs with standard Morgan spares, hoping the new ones will be better
3. Use 4 seater (or +8) leaf springs
4. Would fitting AVO rear stocks help

Driving slower and/or dropping the passenger side ballast are not options!

I had the same clunking experience at the back end, from spirited cornering on roughish roads.
This is caused as you say by the suspension bottoming out.
It was COMPLETELY cured for me by fitting a Panhard Rod.
The Rod also transformed the handling, and a mere snip at less that 200 quid.
What's not to like?

I get the rear suspension bottoming out when going straight (over bouncy roads) not just cornering so I wonder if fitting a Panhard rod would cure it?

Some have fitted 4 seater rear springs (4 leaf versions if memory serves).
A route I will take when mine need replacing.

Sounds like a different issue to mine Clock.
I have never had bottoming out on the straights, however bumpy.
Graham's suggestion may be the one to consider..other thoughts will come in as the day progresses.

Had the same problem. I fitted AVO’s and even new springs but it would still bottom so made some adjustable bump stops. They work very nicely and can even be set to push back on the hard corners.





Last winter I was going to have a go at a small prototype run of a production friendly generic version. Design prepared and material sourced but got no further.

I have the same issue with my Dad's 2007 Roadster 4 seater. How would a Pannard Rod help? Do the AVO shocks helps things on the post 2006 4 seaters? Also would be good to try the bump stops but not sure if they would fit?

Check your shocks. One or both could be knackered. I just replaced mine with Rutherford AVOS due to one of the old ones (Koni) failing. The result was some sloppiness in the rear and bottoming out too often(!) BIG improvement with the AVOs. Currently set on softest setting. Fronts set on 4clicks.
I have a Panhard rod already so cannot compare with and without, but the old shocks were the cause of my problem.
I also have a rollbar so that and Panhard have firmed up he rear too.

Also does the bump stop hit the Axle or the spring?

A Panhard Rod is a fix for what I call 'bunny hopping' when cornering.
It prevents the axle from moving sideways under cornering.
This would not help with your issue flyfisher.
I hear great things about AVO shocks - something on my list to do.
