I've been following this topic with great interest, and when the ARP4 was announced I immediately thought that's for me, it hit the right note of modernity over tradition, but I would be the first to admit it is not everyones cup of tea.
My view is that Trad. Morgans aren't pimped, which is what Yann is talking about, because
a. owners want just what is delivered in the package, and are happy to make smallchanges
b. Doing anything major would reduce the residual value of the car hugely
c. They are quite expensive enough in the first place without throwing more money at it
d. There aren't many/any rough or damaged ones around which could be rebuilt as
a new owner would like, so most mods are of a nature that will improve the car
in small ways generally and are not just a one-off major redesign. See what DaveW
is doing.
e. Most pimped cars are from major manufacturers who have made millions of the same
model and owners want to change them to make them different to all the rest,
Morgans are so seldom seen on the road that they are already different. Paul, you point out several important point. b. it's half true i have see some heavily modified interior witch i doubts will damage the reselling price. d. have some but too pricey for strip it down and pimp it and up to this allow me to add one more point, it also depend on the continent in the old continent most of the Morgan owner are a little traditionalist, when in USA is more well accepted to pimp any car (bellow have an example).But it's particular to Morgan because i have a heavily mod Austin Healey and the owner ask for a huge price because of the mod's (witch are quite nice)

I must dispute this. I think the USA is more traditionalist than You think. I will admit there are a few in Northern California who swap engines at will. But not the rest of the USA. I think My +8 Bitsa and DHC/Zetec are pretty much frowned on in the US. And I think the re-sell value will reflect this. A lot has to do with the quality of the conversion.

Button Seattle [/quote] I also should point out that all of the Morgans that have been tarted up that I know of, were pretty much basket cases that were in pretty dire straights. My +8 Bitsa was the results of several accidents including a fire. I must admit I have enough parts to put the DHC back to original. I just wanted modern performance. Button
