What a bizar advert and the discription is written in such an arrogant way. Did morgan build a prototype for the aeromax, i thought the first aeromax was a commission for a Swiss banker and the rest sold to order.

To my knowledge only one car was built with the 4.4 engine and this was registered as an Aero 8 and had an aero chassis number. Aeroman, then Mr Tony owned Aeromax No 1 which was a 4.8 and was the original Aeromax. I did look at buying this car some time ago at that point in time it was straight but had is pointed out in the ad the car was written off by someone's son. Reading the ad I'm not convinced you'll be getting anything but pictures of the car. Regarding getting this back on the road now I don't think it will ever happen, new chassis, front end, engine etc. Especially when you consider Aeromax prices really haven't moved on in the same way as many other classics.

Here's a clickable (anonymous) link to the eBay ad: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391512661765 This looks like a standard scam to avoid paying eBay fees on the actual item, but in this case he states: "... if agreed will be listed as a BUY IT NOW according to ebays terms and conditions"So that's all above board then. Of course if anyone actually buys the pictures for £15, that's the advert gone. ~iw

I did look at buying this car some time ago at that point in time it was straight but had is pointed out in the ad the car was written off by someone's son. I think that AeroMax No: 1 must be regarded as the original Eric Sturdza car which had an Aero 8 chassis number and a 4.4L engine. As far as I am aware he still owns it. There were then two prototypes, both on Aero 8 chassis numbers - the one on this thread which had a 4.4L engine, which was written off by someone's son, and the one owned by me (Aero 8 chassis no: 600) which had a 4.8L engine and was used to develop this engine and the auto gearbox for the Aero's. The multi-adjustable ZF development gearbox was removed when I bought it off the factory and a normal production gearbox fitted. Subsequently this Max was owned by Mr Tony, who has since sold it on and it is still in the same hands. I can't remember who had official AeroMax chassis no: 001, but it and roughly another 100 official AeroMax's were then built with their own chassis numbers. Currently the factory have the last AeroMax built - chassis number: 000 at a price in the region of £150K or offers. The car was formally used by CM, but has been refurbished to a new standard both inside and out, though it has been resprayed and is thus no longer in the iconic 'Liquid Mercury' paint as used on the Sturdza, and several other AeroMaxes! HTH.

Such a shame to see it like this, with what looks like no chance of rescue..

Aeromax official chassis number 001 one was a black uk Reg RHD car. I looked at buying it when it was for sale at SGT but the premium the seller wanted was rather too high (they were listing it at over 150k back in 2009). It subsequently sold for a lot less I think..
As Aeroman says the two pre prod prototypes were the 4.4l (subsequently written off) and the 4.8 which Aeroman then I owned. I sold it to a serious collector who I know reads these pages occasionally and he has a standing offer from me to buy it back off him if it ever happens...

I think that we should form an orderly queue Rich, as this is one car I really regret selling! Do you still keep your AeroMax Tumbler account up-to-date or have you succumbed to the charms of that Italian lady?

I've not updated it for a while. I do need to have a sort out of all my car pics though... Just sold theFF - it's been fantastic to own for 2 years and as a piece of technology it's impossible to fault a 200mph supercar, family wagon and full on luxury everyday car all in one: but in the end with the job I have at the moment running the operations of a rapidly growing global tech company I just couldn't use it enough. Can certainly see me getting another in the not too distant future though... So I've jumped into a Quattroporte V GTS Sport with just 10k miles. It's a special thing to drive every day and with 2 less cars I can now focus on the 911 project. Target on that is around 950kg with around 350hp while keeping the narrow body and 15" wheels and short ratio box.. Should be fun - currently in process of engine selection - plans already in progress on suspension wheels etc... In the meantime real focus is on restoring the house - 1930s architecture renovations puts hypercar ownership in the shade when it comes to costs!!
