In relation to trim values - are these the ecu learning your driving style or is it something else?

Yes...

I have 2013 4/4 and have found that the immobiliser light goes off if you put the drivers seat belt in.

I have just been going through some old threads and though it is a bit late I thought I might add my pennyworth:)

The ecu memory should keep a log of faults. If you have a fault scanner you could access the source of the fault and any in memory.
I have an Autel that shows current, past(unless erased from memory), live functions. Paid for itself on the first use!
Sealey tools are uk agents. THe only problem with mine is it is an older model and no longer updatable, it covers the 2002 Plus8 though.
