Hi Guys
Anybody out there who knows
1 who supplies running board / wing strakes
2 approximate cost.
3 has anybody fitted these them-self

My plus 4 has plastic protectors fitted which are not that successful . In my opinion if the swept wing is fitted with strakes then any scuffs that occur could be polished out with " finesse". The problem with plastic is it scratches easily and cannot be polished out . Hence my above question Cheers SteveH

On that subject. Does anyone have any tips as to how to polish out those minor scuffs on the plastic protection?

Steve,
I assume Morgan dealers could supply them but places like Woolies sell them loose in three styles.. http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-113-aluminium-sections.aspx

I find mine are more cosmetic than effective against scuffing from my foot on exiting the car. If anything my foot can hit further outboard on the wing where it curves down.
I now have some vinyl to put there later when I remove my tread strips to polish the wings and refit with stainless screws. The steel ones are rusting and you can see the telltale bumps in the rubber.
If the vinyl gets scratched/ scruffy it is easy to peel off with a warm air gun/hairdrier and replace with new.

Same problem with Tarka, Plus 8: the running boards are 7" wide and even though MMC fitted their 3M paint protection film the plastic, where it curves round the edge, has become scuffed and it will not polish out.... so they look tatty.

I've been trying to get new film fitted, but it seems no one is interested. I'd thought of fitting the running board treads as I had on Aldermog, but to fit them means taking the silencers off.

Also, MMC use steel screws and they rust, causing the rubber to lift. DW posted a detailed thread on how to replace them.

So, I'm still thinking....

Peter - try this site:

http://www.3mventureshield.co.uk/find-installer/

I used to have a client who ran a business that wrapped vehicles for a living - still in touch with him - he is very good at removing film and refitting. No good to you though as he is near Leicester but if you can find someone similar.

Stand over the chap though - my chum will never cut a film on a vehicle - not something that can be said of all of them.

Peter, look on ebay for film.
You can buy small bits to diy fit.
Either in a suitable size or trim yourself before fitting.
Youtube videos also show how.

Paul,

the nearest on is at Winnersh, 45 miles away.

I feel a trip will be needed.

Thanks for the link!

Peter
