Great to hear our enjoying it, if you keep that average up you'll be doing over 25k a year. grin2

Not long before you're back behind the wheel as well Adrian. Good to hear you're making a speedy recovery.

Driven in to work today - ensuring the people of Zurich get their morning dose of automotive art.

Keep getting well Adrian!

After a good strip down and clean of brake shoes etc, the S1 is performing well and a delight ... now up to 1400 miles in month one of ownership. Radically readjusting the miles per year average ... almost brings us to 14000 miles in 14 years!

Thanks Ian, it must say something for the Aero in that they generally get driven by most owners. Obviously a good ride and fun to drive. I've done 3800 in 3 months, so anticipate around 6-8k in a year.

Drove to Surrey and back yesterday to visit family, first long journey and I was very impressed with how it performed. It also seemed to brighten up the day for everyone stuck in the same traffic jams! laugh2

Yesterday I left East Devon as the sun came up at 6:05am and went cross country via Crewkerne, some lovely twisty roads, I felt great for the first time in several months having recently had another op which seems to have done the trick. The car was running great and I was in tune with her, nipping up and down the gears sweeping round the bends with hardly any other cars around. Then it was a quick dash up the A303 for 30 miles, and off at Mere and back onto to some more interesting roads to Salisbury at 7:25, then onto the old A30 to the back of Winchester via Stockbridge, a great road but need to be wary of traffic from side roads. Then the roads through the Worthy's, a great twisty A road, sadly restricted heavily nowadays, not so in my youth! Then up the A31 through Four Marks(where I lived as a child) to Alton to turn up at my best friends at 8:45 unannounced to wake him up with the Aero boom, 127 miles in 2 hours 40 mins, an average of 47mph, not bad consider only 30 on dual carriageway and the rest on old A roads ignored by most nowadays. drive laugh I retraced the same route home after the Classic car meet near Farnham, leaving Alton at 15:00, stopping 10mins for Fuel, a 5 min drink/refresh stop arriving home in Seaton at 17:45, lovely drive, only one T**t all the way, in a new BMW M something being aggressive behind me on the A303, after I let him past after several miles he continued to push every other car out the way, an accident waiting to happen I'd say. ooo Didn't spoil my day though, just joy

Clocked around 250km yesterday - first thing was a run up the Klausen pass at 8am with an Exige S and a Mustang. At 0730 it was near deserted and just glorious. The Exige driver mentioned he had to drive it as hard as he drives it on track - but being that I'm his track tutor I always had the driving advantage - and was able to keep the SS ahead with little effort.

The back end did get squirmy in 1st or 2nd gear out for the hairpins - but I've gained far more confidence leaning on the back end on the power. The car still can't cope with successive direction changes on the brakes - but who cares when it sounds that good on the way out of it smile

I then shuffled back and forth between the hospital, shops and home until the roof went back on at 7pm.

I got more than a few WOWs from men and many many admiring glances from women 10-15 years older than me laugh

Sounds fabulous. Nowhere better than the West Country on an early summer morning.
