It would be interesting to find out how many people believe they are suffering the problem of the final drive belt jumping over the teeth of the rear sprocket. If you are one of these unfortunate people, please, post a brief description of the symptoms and a note of which compensator you are running below. Thanks, Phil.

My experience is that I have had the original, the grease nippled and the Centa compensators but have only had the belt jump teeth when the tension has been set too low (an experiment after reading various statements to the effect that the MMC specified tension was too tight) and when the rear spindle had been inadequately tightened leading to the same loss of tension. Both times it was very apparent that something had jumped, the gunshot sound being the dead giveaway. Overly tentative take off from rest can lead to clattering as the Centa loads and unloads but not as badly as with the earlier compensators. Not quite the answer you asked for but it is TalkMorgan!

I get an almighty thump from the backend if I let the clutch out too aggressively when changing down , but I dont think its the belt jumping - I blame slop in the whole drivetrain being snatched up much faster than it is able to handle. So I try not to do it.

I had that issue too.
In my view it is the slack!

I suffered a loose drive belt in the early months. The symptom was a loud gun shot type should when I accelerated heavily. This forum advised me to check the belt tension and tighten as needed. The belt was indeed found to be loose. My dealer recommended tightening to 10 mm defection at the center of the belt. Everything has run smoothly since making the adjustment.

Definitely [2015 model, Centa drive presumed]. Especially noted when 2-up (ie an extra 400+lbs weight!). Mostly noted in hard acceleration (dumping the clutch) from a junction, and noted as 1 or more sharp bangs associated with lack of progress. Dealer was meant to tighten it up on the 1st service but I found the situation was not improved. Seems quite slack now so I probably need to slacken some bolts, raise the rear, and try readjusting...

I haven't noticed any noise that I could attribute to the belt slipping, even though I do run the belt fairly loose as recommended by SuperMax. I do get some knocking sounds while tootling around at low speed - these I've attributed to the NVH bracket bouncing up and down and coming into contact with the chassis (or some other immovable object). I have no evidence for this - just a feeling.
Early 2012 model with Centa, SuperMax pulley & NVH kit.
