Just been catching up on a few jobs as the weather does not tempt you to use the car
Replaced the electric window switch bulbs and now looking at body tape
Probably been covered before but what is the latest advice on what body tape to use particularly round the bulkhead
https://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/230-bonnet-tape-beaded-type-19mm

I quite fancied this type as the two beads should help cover the top of the nails holding in place but currently it has flat tape.
What do others use?

That looks a bit more robust than the stuff MMC uses: I've been thinking of using memory foam....looks wrong, but should work....!

I was thinking of using that beaded type and using screws instead of nails in the trough.

Stainless or brass screws sound like a good idea I did not want to create any new holes

Still find it strange to use nails and tacks on a car!

Think of the body as a Stage Coach made in the 1750s and then it all makes sense....

There's a short existing thread on this. I was thinking of looking at the existing holes for the screws but the idea's very much at the embryo stage at the moment.

I used Volvo anti squeak tape, purchased in a suitable length for front and rear of bonnet via club member who used to advertise in Miscellany. There are also threads on TM.

Two points.
if nails/screws have NOT been used in construction then the cowl tape was stuck on with a 2pack glue similar to araldite but it sets rock hard and is a real b****r to shift - think stanley knife blades and sandpaper, not easy to avoid damage to surrounding bodywork.

the cowl tape marries to the inside of fold around bonnet edge back and front. I found covering this area with high quality electric insulation tape provided a nice smooth surface for the Volvo tape to work with.

It was a tedious job but the result: Totally Squeak Free joy
for several 000's miles before selling the car.
