I'm from Halifax..

Bought mine last year in September and drove more than 8.000 km since then. Every km was pure fun.

Average of 7,000mls per year over 12 years in 2 x Plus 8's and a 4/4 Sport the mpg of the Plus 8 is about half the Sport but we pass this way but once and "now" is the time .

I migrated back to the Plus 8 burble with Librands twin exhausts having had an enjoyable time with the Sport for 4 years.

My latest Plus 8 which is a 1999 still only has 30,000mls on the clock it was used very little before I had it.

All three cars have been totally reliable during this time. (Minor trim pieces fell off the Sport but they were only glued on)

I have no doubt that she told you it was the best thing you ever did. Mine certainly did so.

However there is an inbuilt conflict in yorkshirewomen. On the one hand being female they like to shop. On the other hand they have inbuilt thrift. Put those two things together and you get someone hooked on the discount racks at Tesco and Lidl.

Wish mine was.

8500 miles in my M3W 6 weeks short of its 3rd anniversary. Its not a fair weather only car, I'll go out even if there is a chance it will get wet. I like Steves comment 'I will not under-use it simply for the benefit of the next owner' my sentiment.
In my 1930 Sunbeam in 27 years of driving I have averaged 860 miles a year. I'm longer up to doing 400 miles in the day in it.
Yesterday I parked next to a guy in a 1960 BMW Isetta. Last year he did 16 miles, to the MOT test & back.

Nearly 3000 miles since I bought my latest plus 8 in Feb when it only had 8000 miles on it, it's 18 years old!
Far better for the usage, and although I loved the plus four I owned for two years prior, it was the burble or lack of it, not the cost of petrol that lured me back to a V8.
Having had four plus 8's never considered the cost of running, and when I did and disposed of my last one, it only made me realise that life is just too short to worry.
Skiing like mad now.

In the Roadster about 5000 miles each year, sold after 2 years got about £750 less than I paid for it. So great value for money for the smiles collected on the way.

In the Plus 8 i've added 14,000 miles since collecting the car from Williams in Dec 2014.

The car now has 29,000 showing on the odometer, it will be 30,500 by the time i've had the car 2 years and probably 33,000 in April when the car is 3.

The annual cost of looking after the car is much the same as Caroline spends on her horse, so I feel that as the Plus 8 depreciates in value much more slowly than 600kg of 14 year old horse flesh it is a financially justifiable choice.

Oh, and I enjoy driving it!

I had a 1973 Triumph Dolomite bought at 13 months old. Sold after 3 years & 36k miles for £25 less than I paid. I did some mods, nothing extreme, Ziebart rustproofing was most expensive & probably what sold it.

I understand where you are coming from, and you don't have to be a Yorkshire Man to want maximum value for money, but I am quite happy to spend a little more to get more fun after all what are we all here for if not to have fun?
