Not seen a calc like that since my degree! My wisdom doesn't goes further as: When pump at fuel station stops it means : Tank is full When engine stops it means : Tank is empty It can't be more simple !

But seriously watch out for running on low fuel. I think this may account for fuel pump failures

But seriously watch out for running on low fuel. I think this may account for fuel pump failures Especially as it's split between 2 tanks - so if you have 1 gallons (9 litres) left that's only a gallon a side.

Are many of the pump failures linked with people who've run out of fuel? I have a suspicion (through experience of doing runout tests in other cars without experiencing pump damage) that they aren't linked.

Many times have I been frustrated by a "shunt resistor"!
A bunch of flowers and nice meal out with a bottle of vino normally overcomes the resistance.
